About this opportunity

Opportunity Overview

A consumer packaged goods company is hiring a Transportation Analyst to support its North American supply chain operations. The role focuses on the day-to-day execution of freight movement, from reviewing shipment demand and routing requirements to monitoring deliveries and resolving service issues as they arise. It sits at the intersection of planning, logistics, operations, and customer service, making it a highly cross-functional position. The analyst will track shipments through the entire lifecycle, using track-and-trace tools to keep carriers, internal teams, and business partners informed about status changes, appointment updates, and potential delays. When things go wrong, this person coordinates the response, digs into root causes, and helps prevent the same problem from happening again. The job also carries a strong data component, with regular reporting on key performance indicators like on-time pickup, on-time delivery, appointment adherence, and exception resolution time. The company operates in the food and beverage space, which means the supply chain runs on tight schedules and strict quality standards. Perishable goods, seasonal demand swings, and complex retail delivery windows all add pressure to keep shipments moving on time. The analyst's reporting and analysis directly inform decisions about carrier performance, network efficiency, and cost savings. The role is based in North America and requires deep familiarity with the region's transportation , including dedicated and private fleets, truckload and less-than-truckload shipping, domestic and cross-border moves, and intermodal rail. Candidates should expect to work closely with carriers and internal stakeholders across multiple departments, so clear communication and a customer-service mindset are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Review shipment demand, routing requirements, carrier capacity, delivery schedules, and operational constraints to support transportation planning
  • Monitor shipment execution through track-and-trace activity and provide timely updates on shipment status, delivery expectations, appointment changes, and potential service risks
  • Respond to transportation inquiries from carriers, internal teams, and business partners; resolve shipment issues and coordinate follow-up on exceptions
  • Track, analyze, and report transportation KPIs including on-time pickup, on-time delivery, appointment adherence, shipment visibility, exception resolution time, carrier response time, and service issue trends
  • Prepare on-time performance reporting and analyze delays, missed appointments, late deliveries, root causes, and opportunities to improve service performance
  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends, cost impacts, service gaps, network inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve planning, execution, and carrier performance
  • Partner with Transportation, Planning, Logistics, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and carrier partners to support daily execution, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Request, validate, and maintain accurate shipment, carrier, and transportation data to support reporting, performance analysis, and operational decision-making
  • Review transportation reports for inconsistencies, missing information, shipment exceptions, and documentation gaps; seek clarification as needed to ensure accurate reporting
  • Assist with business cases, savings projections, operating budgets, and project start-ups by providing transportation data, KPI insights, and performance analysis
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps, recommending improvements, and helping standardize transportation planning, reporting, and communication processes
  • Serve as cross-functional support for transportation planning and execution activities as needed to ensure operational continuity and consistent service levels
