Opportunity Overview
MSF International is hiring a Project Manager to lead the transition from its legacy SAP BFC system to a new cloud-based Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solution. The role is based in Geneva or another MSF office close enough for regular travel to Geneva. The assignment runs for three years, with a start date as soon as possible. Applications close on August 12, 2026. The project sits within the International Finance Team (IFT), which produces combined financial information for the entire MSF movement. The current SAP BFC system has been in use for over 15 years. The new EPM solution will generate the consolidated annual financial report and serve as a financial planning and analysis tool. It will handle far more data sets and produce more insightful, user-friendly reports and forecasts. High-level requirements, a shortlist of vendors, and a roadmap are already in place, and a consulting firm has been retained as a functional partner. The Project Manager reports to the International Finance Coordinator and will later supervise a Business Analyst. The role involves working with finance directors across all MSF entities, the Steering Committee, IT teams, and external parties including the solution provider and implementation partner. The project is funded collectively by all MSF entities, and governance is handled by a Steering Committee. Success means the system is selected, implemented, and rolled out on time, on budget, and with continuous stakeholder support. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization delivering emergency assistance in over 70 countries. It operates based on need alone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation. The movement includes seven operational directorates, 24 sections, and supply centers worldwide. MSF International is the legal entity that binds together 26 institutional members and provides coordination, information, and support to the movement. Geneva is a major hub for international organizations, with a high cost of living. The city hosts numerous UN agencies and NGOs, making it a natural base for this kind of work. Switzerland offers a stable work environment, efficient public transport, and a high standard of living. The contract will be offered in the MSF office of the candidate's country of residence at the time of application, and compensation follows the local MSF entity's package.
Responsibilities
- Refine and articulate the project scope and short-term and long-term goals in collaboration with key users and stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility.
- Develop, adjust, and update the project plan, including detailed plans with resource requirements, to deliver results within time and budget constraints.
- Conduct progress reviews, quality control, and monitor project metrics, preparing reports accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with standards for large IT projects, including technical plans, functional and technical documentation, user acceptance testing, data migration, and project decisions.
- Oversee data migration and integration to ensure accuracy, completeness, and security of financial data during the transition.
- Ensure compliance with MSF IT requirements for cybersecurity, access, and privacy, collaborating with MSF IT teams for seamless integration.
- Analyze risks across technical, human, commercial, and financial areas, and devise mitigation actions, while seeking opportunities to accelerate or optimize work and cost.
- Lead communications with the steering group, team members, and stakeholders, convening and preparing steering group meetings and providing reports as per agreed schedules.
- Provide a close-out report at the end of the project.
- Apply best practices in project management and use tools like Asana and Jira for transparency and efficiency.
- Plan, monitor, and adjust the project budget, suggesting options when resourcing is not aligned with plans.
- Play a key role in establishing funding requests and securing funding.
- Supervise and coach the Business Analyst, ensuring clear performance goals and timely feedback.
- Coordinate the work of colleagues involved in the change, ensuring they have the information, knowledge, capacity, and tools to deliver.
- Communicate project goals, progress, and challenges with stakeholders who can influence success.
- Ensure the Steering Committee is properly informed to make decisions and recommendations at the right time.
- Implement effective change management strategies suited to various stakeholder types.
- Coordinate external parties, including the functional partner, solution provider, and implementation partner, to ensure optimal delivery.
- Ensure the functional partner fulfills responsibilities per the framework agreement and work orders, preparing and negotiating work orders as needed.
- Lead the tender and contracting process for selecting the Solution Vendor and Implementation Partner, managing their delivery and contracts.
- Assess the quality of work and recommend acceptance of deliverables based on their nature and function.
- Partner with the Global Procurement Unit and serve as the focal point for contract management, ensuring vendor adherence to terms.
- Participate in International Finance team planning activities and support other initiatives when expertise is relevant.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience working with business applications.
- At least 4 years of that experience in project management.
- Proven ability to manage large IT projects, including budgeting, risk analysis, and stakeholder communication.
- Experience with financial consolidation, planning, or enterprise performance management systems is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with project management and reporting tools such as Asana or Jira.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience supervising staff.
- Excellent communication skills in English; French is an asset given the Geneva base.
- Ability to travel regularly to Geneva if based elsewhere.
- Experience working in international, multicultural environments, ideally within NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
